01 · The idea
In geology, an aeon (or eon) is a billion years, the unit you reach for when a thousand years feels like a rounding error. Most of our decisions run on far shorter clocks: a quarter, an election, a career.
The trouble is that the things that matter most play out slowly. Knowledge compounds, climate shifts, technologies mature and civilizations rise over centuries and beyond.
SuperAeon is a lens for stretching the horizon. It asks what changes when you plan for the long run, and what you would build today if you knew it had to last.
02 · The scale
Rounded, widely cited scientific estimates
03 · Principles
Build things meant to survive their makers: institutions, tools, libraries and ideas that keep paying out long after the launch.
Small, steady gains beat spectacle. Over long horizons, patience is the most powerful multiplier there is.
The far future is uncertain, so favor choices that preserve flexibility over ones that lock in a single outcome.
04 · FAQ
An immensely long span of time. In geology it is defined as one billion years.
An independent project about deep time and long-term thinking: how people and civilizations can build, invest and create on timescales far longer than a quarter or a career.
Most decisions are made on timescales of quarters and election cycles, but the biggest effects, from climate to technology to knowledge, play out over centuries and beyond. Thinking long exposes options that short horizons hide.
